KAT MENSCHIK & die blaue OlgaYou probably know me as an illustrator of fine books. Now I am fulfilling a dream by presenting my pictures in a new format: my limited jewelry edition »die blaue Olga« (the blue Olga). Each piece is completely crafted by hand: first comes the drawing, then the manufacture of the porcelain picture, and finally I insert this tiny work of art into the numbered silver fitting. »die blaue Olga« will become your new friend, sharing your confidence and beauty! Have fun exploring the collection, Kat Menschik
The edition contains ten different »blaue Olgas« (blue Olgas). Ten favourite illustrations from the artist’s oeuvre reproduced in blue on porcelain. Each picture is limited to 25 copies. This strict limitation makes each »die blaue Olga« a treasured collector’s item.
The number of the edition is engraved on the reverse of the 925 sterling silver fitting.
The »die blaue Olga« comes in a jewelry box made from cardboard and decorated with a handmade silk screen print. The box contains a certificate and is sealed with a ribbon.
Handcrafted with love in Berlin and Brandenburg
INK IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL
Kat Menschik is one of Germany’s most successful illustrators. Many recognize her style from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. Her impressive portfolio of book illustrations include many bestsellers and her work has won numerous awards.
Today is January 14th. I got my »blaue Olga« on January 6th and have been wearing it ever since. I already know that I will enter it in the clothing item »Questionnaire of the Year«. And under »Gift of the Year«.
This cook book is so cheerful that a good mood/meal is guaranteed.
It is always the same with books illustrated by Kat Menschik: overwhelmed by her style, momentum and colours you often forget that you also wanted to read.
Girls, monsters and mythical creatures: the fabric from which fairy tales are woven. In striking blue and red Kat Menschik draws »The Doll in the Grass« – designed with love.
Actually I don’t wear jewelry at all. At least it was like that until the blue Olga came to me, packed as a gift. At first I only took her from time to time, now I hang on her and she on me, she is my constant companion, sometimes puzzling, sometimes talkative, never inappropriate and always beautiful. Much more than just a piece of jewelry.
The Blue Olga is beautiful and brings good luck. My absolute favorite jewelry!
People used to believe that medallions and amulets would have a magical effect if only the right substances were stored in them and the right pictures were shown on them. Today we live in magical times. And still hope that whoever wears such a medallion will become more beautiful, smarter, better. And of course funnier. So they are objects of enchantment.
Usually it's a matter of looking into the cleavage. But if the eyes of other women in particular sink into it and then tell me things like: »oh how pretty!«, »an eye-catcher« or even »magical«, it is because of my »blaue Olga«, who rests in it - and I find it wonderful.
Extravagant, full of imagination, with an unbelievable number of pictures, every page is its own work of art.
There are many cook books, but this here is guaranteed the most colourful and one of the funniest.
Kat Menschik has so impeccably illustrated the delirium of the texts with her pictures that the viewer already feels pleasantly creepy. And Edgar Allan Poe’s writing offers the reader a glimpse into the abysses of the psyche that Sigmund Freud would only describe half a century later.
The most beautiful Christmas gift to myself and I love it.
With her drawings full of delicacy and grim humour, Kat Menschik transports the reader into a mysterious world. Magic!
My grandmothers were simple country women. War and flood made it impossible for them to leave me an amulet. Their inheritance is in my genes. The love for hollyhocks is registered there.
»die blaue Olga« (pilot) is my constant companion. On a long or a short chain, depending on the outfit. A beautiful flatterer and a real eye-catcher. It magically attracts amusing conversations. A strong woman for a strong woman.
The unique Kat Menschik creates a subtle mysterious world inviting readers to become immersed in it.
If you are looking for an encounter with genuine literature, read these illustrated, beautiful editions!
The depths of the embossing, the flickering of the colours, the brightness of the print, the beauty of the details. Galiani Publishers belong to the quiet virtuosos of book producing and calling the illustrator Kat Menschik (...) a virtuoso even falls short of the truth. Together they have edited a beautiful delicate little volume (...). Highly recommended.
